The ancient silver coin set at the center of this pendant dates to 109 or 108 B.C. The coin is set in a sterling silver decorative frame.  The coin features the helmeted head of Roma on the front and winged victory in biga on the reverse. This coin is an example of a silver Denarius, which was first minted in 201 BC, the most commonly produced coin for circulation. The coin's authenticity as an ancient coin has been certified by a professional numismatic who specializes in ancient coinage.
